Satellite Images Reveal Heightened Activity Near Sabina Shoal

Satellite imagery from Sentinel-2 on September 26 revealed significant military activities near Sabina Shoal in the South China Sea. The waters around Sabina were dotted with at least nine large vessels, believed to be a mix of warships and coast guard vessels. To the northeast of the shoal, a cluster of over a dozen smaller boats, suspected to be Chinese militia vessels, maintained their position. The Philippine Navy reported that their vessel, the BRP Cape Engaño, conducted patrols in the vicinity of Sabina Shoal over a two-day period, September 25-26. In a separate operation on September 26, Philippine forces successfully executed a supply mission to Second Thomas Shoal, another hotspot area in these waters.
